All students will be greeted at the school gate each morning. To foster a sense of identity and community, all SBUA students are expected to wear the correct uniform at all times. As ambassadors for SBUA, students should always be well-presented in public and as they travel to and from school.

Attending school in the full, correct uniform demonstrates pride in the school and shows that our students are prepared to work and ready to learn in a professional environment alongside their teachers and peers.

Hooded tops and caps are not permitted and will be confiscated.

The SBUA uniform is only available from:

Presentation and preparation

In addition, the following guidelines for personal presentation apply:

  • Hair

Hair must be worn in an appropriate style and should not include patterns. Hair styles or colours that are deemed to undermine the ethos of the school will not be allowed.

  • Nails

These must be clear and natural. Students wearing false nails will be asked to remove them.

  • Jewellery

Wearing jewellery at school can be dangerous in many activities and students are only permitted to wear small single stud earrings in plain gold or plain silver (one in each lobe) and a watch. Watches may be handed over to the safekeeping of teachers during PE or other activities. Students with additional piercings will be asked to remove them immediately.

  • Equipment

Students will be required to bring the following equipment to school:

    • Pencil case (preferably clear for those in Years 10 and 11)
    • Black pens and a green pen
    • Ruler, compass, and protractor
    • Pencils, pencil sharpener and a rubber
    • Scientific calculator
    • SBUA planner
    • SBUA school bag
    • Fully charged Chromebook.

All Year 7 students will be provided with an SBUA backpack on their first day at school. Students in Year 10 and 11 may use a plain black rucksack large enough to carry an A4 folder and PE kit.
